Hey I liked your article. I inherited a website and some crabby designers at work who wanted all my FTP info for website tonight because apparently it's not good enough for them and they want to use a different CMS. I scoured all the docs left by my previous job holder and found nothing, then started to wonder if she ever had it to begin with. Now I know she doesn't, and could never have had it. At any rate, this saved some frustration on my part looking for logins that don't exist, and I'll be on the phone with GoDaddy bright and early tomorrow trying to figure out the easiest way to do this (my designers only want their CMS on a couple of the web pages, and don't want to wipe out the existing stuff, won't they be surprised...lol)

Thanks for the explanation of FTP for Website tonight. I have my site about 80% complete and find that I need to perform calculations on data I collect in forms. Does this require javascript in the content blocks or is there a way in form design that I'm missing. Thanks.

Contrary to the critics, I appreciate the information you have shared. It is helpful in affirming the basic understanding I had of Website Tonight. It has been so long that I didn't remember and maybe I never knew that I could upload and link to files. Anyway, I'm upgrading to a real hosting plan that includes FTP access, but for what it is worth, thank you for the information.

Nothing useful? Did you actually read the post? Have you looked at any of the other "how to FTP to Website Tonight" search results? Most of them are total garbage with incorrect information. Those message boards and forums are full of people with good intentions trying to help, but they are distributing horribly inaccurate information. I just looked through a few of them and read things like; "try port 21", "is your login info correct", "you can't add HTML or JavaScript to Website Tonight", "I have no idea what Website Tonight is but...". As a side note: FTP is blocked on all ports, your login is irrelevant because FTP is blocked on all ports, and yes you can add HTML and JavaScript to Website Tonight.

When the average Website Tonight user searches "How to FTP to Website Tonight" and finds all these misleading and inaccurate websites it makes using Website Tonight frustrating for them because they waste time following bad advice. Not all of the search results are total garbage with incorrect information, but the few that do have some accurate info are incomplete or the good info is mixed with junk. This webpage brings all the important and relevant info together.

The average Website Tonight user doesn't really need FTP access, they just think they do because some misleading forum or web designer (with good intentions) told them they did. This webpage explains that...
<ul>
	<li>Standard web files (ex: Word doc, PDF, audio, etc) can be uploaded without FTP access.</li>
	<li>You cannot purchase a non-WebsiteTonight template online and use Website Tonight to edit that template.</li>
	<li>Website Tonight cannot be used to maintain a website that a web designer built from scratch. However, Website Tonight does allow you to add HTML and JavaScript, upload random non-template files, upload custom template images, and modify the template design with CSS. That's all a web designer should need to build a custom template in Website Tonight.</li>
</ul>

Yes, I am looking for search engine click-throughs, what webmaster isn't? However, I am not deceiving people to get the click-through as you seem to believe. I am providing comprehensive and accurate information regarding the Website Tonight FTP question. You might not like the fact that I titled this page "How to FTP to Website Tonight", but ultiamtely this web page is the only one that clearly, accurately, and completely addresses the question... "How to FTP to Website Tonight".

P.S. I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish in Website Tonight, but rather than being snarky you could have simply asked me for help. There is a good chance that whatever you are trying to do can be done in Website Tonight if you know how, and if it can be done in Website Tonight then I know how. Next time, just ask for help.

People search "How to FTP to Website Tonight", not "Can you FTP to Website Tonight". This page explains that there is NO way to FTP to Website Tonight and offers alternate solutions, which is the information someone searching "How to FTP to Website Tonight" is looking for.

I'm sorry that I did not provide you with a way to FTP to Website Tonight (because there is no way), but hopefully I saved you time by ending your search for something that does not exist.

As the old saying goes "don't kill the messenger".

You shouldn't make a link that says "How To FTP to Website Tonight" that leads to a page that doesn't tell you how to FTP to Website Tonight.
