Adding a Blog to Website Tonight

Already Have a Blog

If you already have a blog adding it to your Website Tonight account is as easy as adding a link to your navigation bar. Here’s how…

1. Login to Website Tonight
2. Make sure the Site tab is selected in the upper left hand corner.
3. Hover over Design.
4. Select Launch Page Designer from the drop down menu.
5. Click the Edit Navigation icon (top center).  It looks like this:  
6. Click the Add Navigation icon (top left).  It looks like this:  
7. Select URL from the Link Type dropmdown menu.
8. Type the URL of your blog in the Goes To field.
9. Label the link (i.e. “Blog”, “My Blog”, etc).
10. Apply the change to this page only or the entire site (up to you).
11. Click Okay

Now that you have added the link to your navigation bar you are ready to preview and publish.

DO NOT Already Have a Blog

If you do not already have a blog then you have lots of options. You can use the steps above to link to any type of blog regardless of where you set it up or what domain you use. We recommend using either Quick Blogcast or WordPress to build your blog.

Quick Blogcast

Quick Blogcast is the most popular blogging platform among Website Tonight users. This is because most Website Tonight providers also sell Quick Blogcast, which means it comes with the same 24×7 support. Quick Blogcast and Website Tonight also have many matching templates. However, not all of the templates match. To see if your Website Tonight template has a matching Quick Blogcast template follow these steps…

1. Login to Website Tonight.
2. Click the Templates tab in the upper left hand corner.
3. Click on the See More Templates button above the template thumbnails on the left hand side. This should make a window popup.
4. From the category drop down select All.
5. Check mark Site and Blog under Templates that work with.
6. Click Update.

The templates you see now are all the Website Tonight templates that are also available with Quick Blogcast. If you’re not using a template that’s also available with Quick Blogcast and you would like to then you will need to migrate your Website Tonight to a template that is also available with Quick Blogcast. If you are using a Quick Blogcast compatible template then you’re ready to setup Quick Blogcast. Once you have Quick Blogcast setup you can link it to your Website Tonight by following the instructions under Already Have a Blog (above). You do not need to purchase Quick Blogcast from your Website Tonight provider. You can integrate Website Tonight with Quick Blogcast even if you purchased them from different companies, so shop around for the best price. We recommend Nerd Warehouse.

WordPress

WordPress is the most popular blogging platform in the world. To use WordPress you will need to purchase a linux hosting account in addition to your Website Tonight account. You can download the newest version of WordPress for free from WordPress.org. Once you have your linux hosting setup and you have downloaded WordPress you will need to install it. For installation instructions click here. Once you have WordPress setup you can link it to your Website Tonight by following the instructions under Already Have a Blog (above).

NOTE: If you purchase your linux hosting account from Nerd Warehouse they will install WordPress for you at no additional charge.
